To read Germany's news in English on your mobile, open your phone’s browser and go to http://m.thelocal.de.

After that, when you try to reach the regular site you will be automatically redirected to The Local's mobile version.

What’s different?

The mobile site is a distilled version of the main site. We’ve

stripped out a lot of the images and have focused on the news, because

that’s what most readers were already looking at on their phones.

We’ve kept job ads and our popular galleries. Later, we’ll be adding

other content, like comments, noticeboard and weather.

Why has it taken so long?

Steady on, we’re not just sitting around twiddling our thumbs, you

know. It’s been in the pipeline for a while and sometimes you need a

summer lull to finish things off.

Also, and more seriously, we wanted to wait until we had a decent

number of people viewing the regular version of The Local on their

phones so we had something to work from.

Can I advertise on the mobile site?

Yes, you can. In fact, we’d welcome it. Contact our sales manager,

Josh Lenn (+46 (0)70 303 6494 / [email protected]), and he’ll talk you

through the options.

What about an app?

We are working on a number of app concepts which we intend to start

releasing in the autumn.

Can I tell you what I think about it?

Of course. You can use the comments function below or join in the discussion at www.facebook.com/thelocal.
