Warm summer weather will return to the country just in time for the weekend and stay until the work week begins again, the German Weather Service (DWD) reported on Friday.

After several days of cool and changeable weather, Saturday will be particularly sunny and dry, with high temperatures climbing up to 25 degrees Celsius. Cloud cover will develop in the west and the north in the afternoon, while slightly cooler temperatures are expected in coastal and mountainous regions, the DWD said.

Overnight, northern and western regions can expect showers, but the rest of the country will see clear skies and temperatures between 12 and 17 degrees.

On Sunday the south and east will be warm and clear, while the west and north will be partly cloudy, the DWD predicted. But some areas will see heavy showers and thunderstorms, expected to spread to central and southern German during the course of the afternoon.

Meanwhile temperatures will range between 22 and 29 degrees. The warmest temperatures will likely be in the eastern Lausitz region and southern Bavaria.

But the balmy weather won’t last long. Stormy weather and cooler temperatures on Monday will signal a week of milder temperatures and scattered showers, the DWD said.
