A home helper who was left everything by an old man she cared for is being taken to court by prosecutors accused accepting bribes.

The woman, 55, was left nearly 450,000 kronor (about $61,000) in 2008 after the death of the 82-year-old man. The man had previously told the woman than she would receive "everything he owned and had," according to court documents.

Prosecutors say that the woman, who has been employed by a local council in Värmland, western Sweden, came into contact with the old man through her job. She was his home helper until 2007, one year before his death.

In 2007, the woman was given power of attorney over the man's affairs, meaning she was able to make financial decisions on his behalf.

The fact that that the woman was employed by the council meant that the bequest was "improper reward for carrying out her duties in the care service and for her position as Olsson's attorney," prosecutors alleged in the deposition.
