Wounded men held after voluntary knife battle

Two men, 28 and 29, have been detained by police in central Sweden after reaching a mutual agreement to slash each other with knives.

The men were found bloodied and in a state of distress at an apartment block in Kungsör, 130 kilometres west of Stockholm, on Saturday afternoon. The pair had been sitting watching films together when they got the idea to start cutting each other up with knives, local newspaper Vestmanlands Läns Tidning (VLT) reports.

They were taken to hospital for treatment where they each requested to be taken into psychiatric care. But they later left the psychiatric care ward and were arrested by the police. Both are being detained on suspicion of aggravated assault.

“Minor assault on a mutual basis is tolerable from a legal perspective but this was so serious that it doesn’t matter if there was a reciprocal agreement,” police sergeant Sven-Åke Hammar told the newspaper.
