The identity of the victim has not yet been ascertained but police said the woman had been subjected to violence. There have so far been no arrests in the case.

The woman’s body was found by two people out picking flowers in the woods near Kistinge industrial zone south of Halmstad. Police believe the woman was killed around lunch time on Saturday.

Superintendent Lars Hamrén believed the woman had been killed at the spot where her body was found. He declined to comment on the nature of her injuries or the likely cause of death.

"We believe the woman had cycled to the woods to pick flowers when this happened to her," he said.
