Two middle-aged women from southern Sweden have been jailed for drug dealing after large quantities of amphetamines were found in their apartments.

Suspicions were raised in January that the women, aged 55 and 65, were supplementing their pensions by selling narcotics. When police searched their homes they found a total of 4 kilos of amphetamines hidden in cool bags, plastic containers and a gold-coloured porcelain dog.

Scales, believed to have been used for selling drugs, were also found.

Malmo District Court convicted the two women of drug dealing, sentencing the 55-year-old to five years in jail. The 65-year-old was put on probation by the court, but after an appeal by prosecutors she was also jailed for five years by the Court of Appeal.
