Grey May to continue into weekend
Germany’s spring will continue to cough and splutter a while longer, with the next few days set to be cool and moody, the German Weather Service (DWD) said Thursday.
With maximum temperatures ranging from seven to 15 degrees Celsius, Thursday's tripple-celebration of Ascension Day, Father’s Day and Men’s Day, was set to bring only modest cheer to the country.
On Friday, overcast skies would continue to reign over the north and west of the country, while the east and south could expect rain, the DWD said. The north and east would also be the warmest parts, with the top temperature reaching 15 degrees.
Overnight Friday, rain could be expected stretching from the Black Forest in the south west to the Erzgebirge mountains in the east, reaching further north over the course of the night up to the Baltic coast. Temperatures overnight would range from seven degrees in the east to three in the northwest, where ground frost was also likely.
Going into the weekend, the northeast could expect plenty of rain, as could regions south of the Danube. Across the country, cloud cover would alternate with clearer skies as the changeable weather continued, the DWD said.
But most of the country would remain reasonably dry. The mercury would range from nine degrees in the Allgäu in south west Bavaria to 17 degrees in parts of the west further north.
Stormy, gusting winds were likely in the north west.
Sunday would remain unsettled and cool with temperatures ranging from 12 degrees on the coast to 17 degrees in the south and patches of rain across the country.
