Stahre swaps Swedish champs for Greece
Swedish coach Mikael Stahre, who guided the Stockholm-based team AIK to the Swedish championship in 2009, has been appointed to lead Greek first division side Panionios for the upcoming season.
Panionios Athens made the announcement on Monday and declined to reveal either the duration of Stahre's contract or the financial details.
Stahre replaces Giorgos Paraschos, who left after Panionios finished the season in eighth place in the league with 37 points from 30 matches.
Stahre, 34, took the unfancied AIK to the Allsvenskan title last year but has seen his team struggle to deal with the loss of its key striker at the beginning of the 2010 season, with only one win from the opening eight fixtures.
Mikael Stahre has been replaced as AIK coach by Björn Wesström.
