The scene has been cordoned off by police for forensic examination.

Police have been unable to confirm if the body is a man or a woman as it is thought to have been lying by the tracks unnoticed for several months, police have confirmed.

All train services on the Kustbanan were suspended until police had completed their investigation. According to the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) services resumed at around 7.15am on Monday.

The Kustbanan railway runs from Kristianstad in Skåne to Karlskrona in Blekinge, a distance of 120 kilometres.
