Swedish baby escapes unscathed from snow burial

Neo Nordstedt, a six-month-old Swedish baby, awoke from his slumber on Friday to find that he, and his pram, had been completely buried under snow falling from a three-storey building.

Neo and his mum were walking along Köpmansgatan in Sölvesborg in southern Sweden on Friday on a routine shopping trip that turned into an icy nightmare for all concerned, local newspaper Blekinge Läns Tidning reports.

Warmer weather had begun to melt the snow on Sölvesborg's roof tops and all of a sudden a massive dump fell, burying Neo and his pram, and hitting family friend Jasna Stanic.

"If there had been lumps of ice in the snow then he would not be with us today," Neo's mum Camilla Nordstedt told the newspaper.

After digging out her son, she was relieved to see that he had escaped with little more that a few scratches.

Camilla Nordstedt has now reported the property owner to the police for inadequate snow clearance.

"The incident was extremely unlucky. The roof in question has a very small surface area and snow has never fallen from it before," said Björn Bengtsson at property owner Sölvedahls Fastighetsförvaltning to the newspaper.
