The Swedish Met Office (SMHI) has issued a class 1 warning for the Österlen area of Skåne, southern Sweden, over the next two days with strong winds and more heavy snowfall expected.

A warning has also been given along Sweden's east coast towards Lapland and other parts of the south. Drivers are being told to avoid the Öresund Bridge, connecting Malmö and Copenhagen, where possible.

Despite worsened weather and road conditions, particularly in the south of the country, police in Skåne says no accidents have been reported in the last 24 hours.

However, in Uppsala, central Sweden, police are investigating a snow plough robbery on Friday evening from a machine park in Fyrisvallsgatan.

"We don't know yet whether someone was so desperate they wanted it to use themselves or whether it was an organised job," said Stefan Hallberg, spokesperson from Uppsala police, to news agency TT.
