Guilty verdict for child rape teacher
A male high school teacher in Skövde, south west Sweden, has been found guilty of a string of sex crimes with a pupil and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
The 41-year-old faced accusations of sexual abuse with a minor, child rape and sexual assault and was found guilty on all charges at Skaraborg's district court on Friday.
He was also ordered to pay damages amounting to 90,000 kronor ($12,471) to the girl who was 14 years old girl when the abuse began, writes newspaper Aftonbladet.
The man, who worked at the town’s Helena school, was arrested in November last year.
He admitted engaging in sexual activities with a female student at the school in early 2009 but denied all other charges.
When the allegations came to light, it was also suspected he had earlier forged a sexual relationship with a student in a separate incident.
