A hungry thief sent an employee from a Stockholm-area McDonald’s to hospital on Wednesday night before making off with a booty that included more than just money.

A man entered the McDonald’s near the E4 motorway in Upplands Väsby north of Stockholm around 8.30pm, waving what appeared to be a gun and screaming that he wanted cash.

When the robber then attempted to escape, one of the restaurant workers made chase, only to be knocked to the ground by the fast -oving burglar.

The employee was later taken to Danderyd hospital, but reportedly escaped the incident with only minor injuries.

The thief, however, had two accomplices waiting in a car outside the restaurant and was able to make a successful getaway.

The car was later found burned out and abandoned in nearby Vallentuna.

According to police spokesperson Peter Eriksson the robbers managed to get away with a modest amount of cash.

“And four hamburgers. They must have been hungry,” he told the TT news agency.
