Police suspect murder as woman's body burns
Police in Stockholm have launched a murder investigation after the charred remains of a woman's body were found outside a residential building in Bandhagen in southern Stockholm on Wednesday evening.
Police had been called to the area after reports of an explosion. Police also received reports of a fire outside a residential building in the southern suburb.
"When police arrived at the scene it was no longer burning; it turned out to be a human body that had burned," said police officer Ulrika Lönndal.
Details are unclear as to the cause of death or events surrounding the explosion and fire. Police are seeking a man for questioning in connection with the incident but would not say whether he is suspected of a crime.
The area has been cordoned off and is being subjected to a thorough search.
The body was very badly burned and police have not yet been able to identify the victim.
"But it has been possible to establish that it was a woman," said Lönndal.
