After friendly Friday weather, temperatures are set to drop to chillier autumnal temperatures, bringing rain and the season’s first frost, German Weather Service (DWD) reported.

Temperatures will reach up to 19 degrees Celsius on Friday afternoon in southern Germany, but overnight heavy fog will roll into the north overnight and temperatures will drop as low as 0 degrees – which will likely mean a light ground frost.

“Temperatures will be decidedly below recent days, so that on Saturday morning in some northeastern German locations one will have to get out the ice scraper,” the DWD’s Christian Herold said in a statement.

Saturday will dawn a bit warmer in southern Germany but will likely be rainy, while the sun will shine in the north and east. Daytime temperatures will fall between 11 and 18 degrees Celsius.

“Most of Germany will need an umbrella here and there,” Herold said.

Sunday’s weather is expected to be cloudy and changeable with isolated rain showers. Daytime highs will be between 12 degrees Celsius in the north and up to 16 degrees in the south.

Chilly rain will set in overnight, and many Germans can look forward to a partly rainy and windy Monday morning commute, the DWD said. Highs will vary between 10 and 16 degrees Celsius. More ground frost is likely by Tuesday morning.
