Government maintains popular approval: poll
A large majority of Swedes maintain confidence in the four-party centre-right Alliance government, according to a new Skop poll.
Sixty-one percent of Swedes believe the Alliance government is doing a good or a very good job, according to the survey, which asked the Swedish population to evaluate both the government and opposition. One in five, 21 percent, think that the government is doing a bad or somewhat bad job.
Trust in the Social Democrats as an alternative government increased during the survey period. But voters remained more confident in the sitting coalition than a government headed by Mona Sahlin.
Thirty-six percent believe that a Social Democratic government would form a worse alternative to the current government, while 30 percent believe that it would be better.
“For the first time since summer 2008, confidence in the Social Democrats as an alternative governement hasn't decreased,” said Skop analyst and lecturer Örjan Hultåker.
Skop interviewed 1,100 Swedes between August 12th and 30th.
