Two people were found dead early Sunday morning and the suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested in a wooded area near the crime scene.

The 35-year-old was covered in blood at the time of his arrest and according to eye witness accounts had been wandering around in nearby yards carrying a board and trying to break into a car, police spokesperson Magnus Axelsson told the TT news agency.

“It started with a call about a woman being assaulted. She was taken to Stockholm South General Hospital (Södersjukhuset) and she doesn’t have any serious injuries. While gathering statements from witnesses on the scene, police also checked the house from which the man who was later arrested had come and there they found the two deceased,” he said.

As of 2.30pm, the identity of the two victims remained unclear and police didn’t want to release any information about their gender or approximate ages.

“I haven’t had the information confirmed 100 percent,” said Axelsson.

In addition to murder, the arrested man is also suspected of beating the woman who was taken to hospital.

The call about the assault came around 6.15am Sunday morning.

“There were also a few others who were hit but it was nothing serious,” said Axelsson.

The suspect has been taken to the police station in Nacka to be interrogated while police technicians continue to comb the scene where the bodies were found for more information.

Police say that no additional suspects are being sought in the case.

The woman who was assaulted was interviewed quickly by police at the hospital in the morning, although there is no information available as to what the conversation may have uncovered.
