Sweden, which holds the 27-nation EU's rotating presidency until the end of the year, wants the ministers to look at access to vaccines for the A/H1N1 virus and ways to help some European nations get them.

More than 2,180 people around the world have died from the virus since it emerged in April, according to the World Health Organisation, with an estimated 210,000 people infected in 177 countries, according to AFP.

The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Europe stands at over 46,000. Over 900 people have been infected with the virus in Sweden, which reported its first fatality earlier this week.
