Fuglesang waits as weather delays launch

Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang will have to wait for his second trip into space after the launch of the spaceship Discovery was delayed due to poor weather.

Fuglesang was scheduled to join the crew on the Discovery's voyage into space on Tuesday morning but Nasa announced earlier today that a decision had been taken to put off the launch.

The decision was taken just minutes before lift off and was as a result of unfavourable weather factors.

The launch has now been scheduled for Wednesday morning.

According to Nasa, there is a 30 percent chance of poor weather playing further havoc with launch plans.

Swedish space enthusiasts had gathered at Universeum in Gothenburg on Tuesday morning to follow the launch but were left disappointed over the announcement.

"I am coming back again tomorrow," a hopeful Ronja Hedström, 18, told the TT news agency.
