“He was arrested in abstentia on suspicions of attempted murder,” Christer Harplinger, information officer at the Halland police, told TT.

On Friday, a 19-year-old male was also arrested for attempted murder. He was suspected of being behind the shooting at an apartment on 7 July in the neighbourhood of Andersberg.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for three other men, thought to be part of a different local gang than the 19-year-old, for serious weapons charges in connection with gunfire on 15 July. One of them was in the apartment that was shot at on 7 July.

“The origins of these incidents likely have a longer history. Exactly what it's about we don't know. Those involved haven't been especially forthcoming,” said Harplinger.

Since the beginning of last week, there have been six incidents of gunfire reported in Halmstad, five of which occurred in Andersberg.
