34-year-old Christine Badre Schnabl was resident in Brazil at the time and was flying to Europe with her five-year-old son, Phillipe for a holiday.

Her husband and 3-year-old daughter had travelled on a separate flight because of the couple’s fears of air disasters.

A spokesperson at the Swedish foreign ministry, Cecilia Julin, has confirmed for the newspaper Aftonbladet that Schnabl was one of the 51 bodies recovered from the wreck of Air France flight 447.

There was a further Swede onboard the flight but the foreign ministry has not yet received any further information with regards to their whereabouts.

In total 228 passengers went down with the aircraft, which disappeared from radar about 350 kilometres off the Brazilian west coast.
