Huge pensions for company directors
Major Swedish companies continue to provide lavish pension plans for senior management staff.
Pension costs for current and former directors at Sweden's two leading banks, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken and Handelsbanken, now amount to a staggering 3.4 billion kronor, writes Svenska Dagbladet.
Heading the paper’s list of managing directors on the biggest pension deals is former Handelsbanken managing director Anders Mårtensson, who will clear a total of 225 million kronor if he lives to the of 85. At 2 million kronor, the median figure for Swedish pensioners is over a hundred times smaller.
