Notorious criminal arrested for robbery

Lars-Inge Svartenbrandt, a 63-year-old with a long criminal history, is one of two individuals arrested for the armed robbery of a Swedbank branch in Säter in central Sweden, according to the Värmland Police.

Svartenbrandt's rap sheet includes a 1999 shooting of a police officer in Linköping and a 2003 robbery of a Systembolaget alcohol retail outlet in Söderhamn, where one person was taken hostage. Svartenbrandt is considered one of the most dangerous criminals in Sweden.

The arrest occurred just before 6 am on Thursday morning on a motorway close to Hagfors. According to police, the arrest was uneventful. It is unclear if there were weapons or stolen goods in the suspects' vehicle, which was located after a tip from the police in Dalarna.

“A search warrant has been issued,” said Bjarne Andersson, officer at duty at the Värmland police.

In January, Svartenbrandt was charged with aggravated robbery, gross theft, unlawful entry, narcotics-related offenses and knife possession.
