Pärson claims 40th career World Cup win
Swedish skier Anja Pärson won the women's downhill in Zauchenzee in Austria in a dead-heat with Dominique Gisin of Switzerland on Sunday.
The win was Pärson's 40th World Cup victory and provided further confirmation of her blistering early season form which has also seen her claim a super-combined win at Saint Moritz last month.
"This is fantastic, I never thought I'd win 40 races when I started my career 10 or 11 years ago," said Pärson.
But despite the win the Swedish skier conceded that there was room for improvement.
"Once again I made some mistakes but I did enough for victory. I knew I could win today, I've had a good downhill season."
Pärson, a multiple world and Olympic champion, followed up her third place finish on Saturday in the super combined event.
Pärson crossed the goal line in a time of 1 hour 47 minutes and 52 seconds - a dead-heat with Swiss skier Dominique Gisin.
The pair came in ahead of American Lidsey Vonn who climbed to the top of the overall World Cup standings with Pärson making progress up the rankings to third behind the German skier Maria Reisch.
