The two, a 26-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were arrested in March for having cut several toes off of the 44-year-old victim as well as cutting off one of his ears and forcing him to eat it.

The incident took place in a hunting cabin near Hallandsåsen in western Sweden, where the man was found badly beaten a few days after Easter.

While prosecutors had argued for life sentences, the Halmstad District court handed down an eight year prison sentence to the woman, while the man is to spend six years behind bars.

Both have been in custody since early April and were convicted for kidnapping and torture-like assault.

After having been taken to the cabin by the pair the day after Easter, the victim also had candle wax poured in one of his eyes and nails pounded into his kneecaps and elbows.

According to the original indictment, the victim was in danger of bleeding or freezing to death before he was discovered, leading prosecutors to also classify the case as kidnapping, attempted murder, and serious assault.
