Fifteen people were injured when a double-decker shuttle bus full of BMW workers crashed early on Monday morning after the intoxicated driver lost control on a snow-packed road in Bavaria, police in Straubing reported.

The shuttle bus was headed to a BMW factory in Dingolfing on the B20 motorway when it slid into an embankment and overturned around 4 am.

The driver, who police said was “lightly intoxicated,” was severely injured in the accident. The 14 passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.

Police said the man had been driving too fast for the wintery conditions.

Germany got its first dose of widespread severe winter weather over the weekend, which caused deadly traffic accidents and delays across the country. Icy road conditions are expected to continue during the beginning of the work week.
