Swedish tennis legend dies
Lennart Bergelin, Björn Borg's former personal coach and a top tennis player in his own right, has died at the age of 83.
Bergelin died after a short illness. He was in recent years most well known for his work as Borg's personal coach from 1971 until 1983, during which time his young protege won
11 Grand Slam singles titles at Wimbledon and the French Open.
Bergelin also led Sweden's Davis Cup team to its first ever Davis Cup victory in 1975.
Before his career as a trainer, Bergelin was considered one of Sweden's best players, playing 90 Davis Cup tournaments and reaching the quarter finals at Wimbledon four times.
Between 1946 and 1951, he won four international tournaments and in 1948 became the first Swede to win the Paris Grand Slam doubles competition, partnered with Jaroslav Drobny.
Between 1946 and 1955, he repeatedly figured on international lists ranking the world's 10 best players.
