New Yorker Lauper has recently released a new album entitled “Bring Ya To The Brink” featuring Basement Jaxx, Kleerup and Dragonette, which proves that she is still very much in touch with the times while remaining a girl who just wants to have fun.

The Hellacopters
One of Stockholm's foremost rock bands bids farewell to the live stage at Debaser Medis this weekend.
The five-man band are given credit for making a major contribution to the Swedish and international rock scene and will be sorely missed by the genre's aficionados.
In their 13 year recording history the band has managed to attain near arena status while retaining the appearance of a bunch of lads that enjoy strumming a few tunes and sinking a few beers together.

Shoot – Dance for screen
The Swedish dance film festival celebrates its fifth year in 2008.
The theme of this year's three-day festival is artistic achievement and will be a celebration of dance, film, dancers and film makers.
Ukrainian Maya Deren, 'Queen of Dance' Pina Bausch, Billy Cowie and Liz Aggiss are among the artists and practitioners featured.

Lloyd Cole released the latest of his 12 albums in 2006 under the title “Anti Depressant” and will share his wide repertoire with a Swedish public this weekend.
Since his début at the head of The Commotions in 1984, Lloyd Cole has gone through a series of transformations but consistent to all his music is the same dry, sharp humour and wonderfully self-loathing lyrics.
Cole commands a loyal fan base and many of his concerts have attained legendary status among concert goers worldwide. Gothenburgers get their chance on Saturday.

History Acts
Eleven internationally active artists take part in “History Acts” - an exhibition about our relationship to the past and to the present.
The exhibition addresses history not as a homogeneous idea, but as a plethora of stories from the past and their effect on the present. The featured works vary from the manufacture of news items and imaginary insurance companies, to hydro-powered computers in 1950s Guatemala mixed in with a wealth of stories from the workplace.
The exhibition's aim is to present works of art all of which illustrate a kind of archaeological approach, an in-depth examination of a single site, event or the memories of a single individual. All the artworks on show have their roots in a social reality, even if that specific reality may very well be itself a fiction or construct.

Death and the Maiden
Ariel Dorfman's theatrical play Death and the Maiden comes to a close at Malmö Opera this weekend.
The play, adapted for the screen by Roman Polanski in 1994, is the second of three works composed for Malmö Opera by Jonas Forsell.
“Its intense dramaturgy with only three main characters offering an extremely wide range of different emotions and multiple quick changes of position, but also through its almost painfully day-to-day topical subject about dictatorship, torture, sexual abuse and the eternal choice between revenge and reconciliation” make it “an almost ideal plot for an opera” according to Forsell.
The opera is performed in English.

50 years of The Smurfs
As half-term beckons why not round up the kids and head for Leksakslandet which claims to be “more than just a museum – a whole toy world.”
Currently featured at the museum is an anniversary exhibition of The Smurfs, the "three apples tall" blue creatures who live in a village somewhere in the woods. They were created by the Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo (1928-92), originally for the adventures serie Johan & Peewit in 1958.
The Smurfs broke out on their own in 1959 and have been romping in the Smurf village, with the mean Gargamel and sneaking around the corner, ever since.
