The new Berns has undergone a major facelift and has recently reclaimed its undeniable place as one of the city’s biggest, best and most ambitious nightclubs.

Walk in through the hotel entrance, go down the stairs and you will discover a gigantic floor space with more than enough room for dancing, getting to know people and hanging around in the lounge in a nice dark environment with the freshest clientele in town.

In terms of music, Berns plays everything from hip-hop to house, jazz and soul. There’s also a major focus on art exhibitions, film viewings and other visual treats.

Fritz's Corner is one of the city's oldest and most popular rock clubs. Every Saturday sees an offering of wonderfully interesting live bands from Södermalm and abroad, as well as a busy dancefloor shaking to everything from electro pop to rock'n'roll.

Fritz is celebrating all of eleven years in existence and is doing so in style with two very interesting American bands, Sic Alps and Volcano.

The Fritz’s Corner residents will be DJing. There’ll also be special guests and lots of surprises.

Sweden’s oldest and noblest indie fanzine ettnollett celebrates its 25th anniversary next year but has already begun celebrating with a little club at the recently refurbished Sugar Bar. You can count on there being highly interesting live acts from the pop, electronica, new wave and indie rock genres, and of course DJ action from some of the fanzine’s contributors.

Two great live acts in the form of Love Is A Burning Thing and Paddington DC. There’ll also be a secret warm-up band, as well as Nickepop and Labrador-Bengt in the DJ booth playing everything from Wire to Animal Collective.

The Gås (goose) guys continue to spread the word of rock on Fridays and Saturdays at Bar 122, just a bit away from Folkungagatan.

Resident DJs - Mr Jubran on Fridays and Julius Berlin on Saturdays - keep things moving with a heady blend of rock, garage, punk rock, '77 punk, stoner, and indie rock.

Go Bang! guys Stefan Thungren and RWB-Henke are finally back in business with a spanking new club. Located in Marie Laveau's tropical cellar bar, their dance club Slow Blow trades under the slogan: 'Slow is the new fast'.

Birmingham guy Mark E (UK) will be playing his shimmering slo-mo-dub-tech-disco. Up in the bar: 24:Hours Soundsystem.

Flyer-Jimmy and Råkk-Marie have a life, a garage and a club together. One Saturday a month for the last five years they have served up a mixture of delicate country, singer songwriter, subdued old rock songs and some beautiful collectors’ pictures as friends and regulars settle in to knock back yet another beer at this classic old pub in Gamla Stan.

It’s Springfield’s seventh anniversary, but they’re not bothering to celebrate. Instead they’re bringing in the excellent Six Figure Transatlantic to play at around 11pm.

Over the last few years Vassa Eggen has gradually begun to take over as the most obvious hangout for the city's pub-going hip-hop and nightclub audience.

Every weekend the bar on the outer edge of the Stureplan area is full to bursting with all the old regulars from Riche/East/Annakhan/Berns/Floras Kulle, who love dancing on the bar to everything from old school hip-hop to Baltimore club, soul, funk, disco and electro.

Among the most frequent DJs are people like DJ Taro, KärleksJohan, A Lowe Thing, Thomas LA, Myggan, Jeppe Körsbär and Hackenbush.
