Zwickau cops mistake beet juice for blood

Zwickau police deployed a search party complete with tracking dogs when a concerned neighbour of an elderly woman called in a mysterious trail of blood. They later found it was beet juice.
When a woman in the Saxony town discovered a trail of presumed blood in front of her 93-year-old neighbour’s apartment door, she called police, who opened the door to find her missing.
Authorities launched a search party and called every hospital in town before getting out the tracking dogs, but their search for the pensioner was fruitless.
The elderly woman eventually came home and explained that the “blood” was actually drops of beet juice that had leaked from a broken jar on her way home from grocery shopping.
