FC Bayern Munich’s embattled coach Jürgen Klinsmann has been guaranteed a job until the end of the current season by club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Klinsmann, the much lauded former coach of the German national football team, took over the helm at Bayern this season, but he has failed to produce results at the Bundesliga’s most demanding side. Although the fans and the officials in Munich expect nothing less than the league title and decent run in the Champions League, Klinsmann’s team is currently wallowing in eleventh place.

But the notoriously testy and uncompromising Rummenigge told the Tuesday edition of the Bild that Klinsmann would have till the end of the season to prove himself.

“We’re convinced by Jürgen and his philosophy. He’s the right coach for us,” Rummenigge said, adding there was “no doubt” that Klinsmann would still be in charge at the end of the season. “In principle he’s doing everything right. Only the results at the moment aren’t the right ones.”

Bayern’s disappointing 3-3 draw with VfL Bochum last weekend has plunged the Bundeliga’s most successful club into its worst start to the season in 31 years.
