Two terror suspects arrested in Frankfurt
Police arrested two men suspected of aiding the extremist group Islamic Jihad Union in the Frankfurt am Main region on Friday.
Federal prosecutors in Karlsruhe said in a statement they had taken Omid S., a German national with Afghan roots, and Hüseyin Ö., a Turk, into custody. Both are 27-years-old and suspected of aiding Islamists plotting terrorist attacks abroad.
Although they are not being investigated for helping a related group in the Sauerland region, they allegedly provided supplies and equipment for the IJU.
Omid S. supposedly travelled to a terrorist training camp along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and Hüseyin Ö. was picked up by Pakistani security forces in 2007.
