Some 30 years after the book “We Children from Bahnhof Zoo” made her famous, Christiane F. has reportedly fallen back into Berlin’s drug scene.

The Berliner Morgenpost reported on Monday that friends and family members say the now 46-year-old hangs out in the drug milleu at Berlin’s Kottbuser Tor station.

Christiane F. became famous three decades ago after Stern reporter Kai Hermann wrote his book detailing the drug scene around then West Berlin’s infamous Zoo station. Christiane F., just one of several children there, started taking drugs at age 12 and quickly became addicted to heroin. In order to support her habit she turned to prostitution.

But the book, and later a film, helped her leave the drug scene for several years. The paper reported that her recent relapse occurred during a trip to Amsterdam, where the “wrong friends” put her back on the track to drugs.

Her drug habits have now apparently become so bad that she has lost custody for her 11-year-old son, who lives outside Berlin in a public facility.
