Mating German badgers cause police chopper emergency call
Residents of the tiny German town of Vettelschoss alerted police to what they thought were female screams coming from the woods on Monday evening – but after police sent out a helicopter they discovered the noises were coming from mating badgers.
Police in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate said investigators sent out the helicopter because it had night vision capabilities.
“The crew on this mission is going to be teased terribly,” police in the nearby town of Neuwied said in a statement.
Police were able to identify the screams when they saw one of the love-crazed badgers, whose howls of pleasure apparently “can be mistaken for human screams,” police said.
