Soggy and grey Germany will finally get a taste of summer again later this week, according to the Germany Weather Service.

Low pressure storm system “Bertha” continues to cover the country with cloudy skies, however, better weather brought by the warm front dubbed “Volker” is around the corner, the DWD said on Tuesday.

Wednesday will be sunny throughout much of Germany, although the region near the Alps could still see some showers. Temperature will climb to 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. Nighttime lows will drop to around 17 degrees on the coast to a chilly 8 degrees in the Allgäu region.

The sunshine will be even more widespread on Thursday, with only eastern Bavaria and the Erzgebirge region likely to see thunderstorms. The mercury will hit 18 to 28 degrees. The summer will cement its return as the week comes to a close, as the country stays warm and dry. Despite a few scattered showers in the southeast, temperatures will range between 25 to 30 degrees heading into the weekend.
