Someone had placed a charge on the terrace of the commissioner’s house, where it exploded on Wednesday night, according to local media.

The explosion was so powerful that it blew out two planks of the terrace floor.

Neighbours were awakened by the blast, but the explosive device wasn’t discovered until the morning.

There were no known threats issued against Asklund or his family.

The attack is the third explosive attack in Laholm in recent months.

On New Year’s Eve a bomb exploded outside a police station and a week later there was a blast at a local high school.
