"Rowdy, but no worse than normal," summarised Patrik Söderhjelm of Västerås police.

A 14-year-old girl reported that she had been raped on Saturday evening. No one has yet been arrested in connection with the crime but police confirm that the girl has been able to submit a good description of her assailant. The girl was taken to hospital for examination and has since been in the care of her mother.

A 26-year-old woman reported that she had been assaulted and raped by her husband. The 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation.

A 23-year-old woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted. A 43-year-old man has been arrested, taken into custody and interrogated.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with a brawl. The man is reported to have threatened another man with a gun. The police have confiscated the loaded weapon.

A further 80 people were held during the night for drunken disorder, eight were arrested on suspicion of drink driving, three for drug driving and several more for minor drug offences.

Several cases of assault have been brought to the attention of the police. Among others a woman is suspected of having kicked and punched another woman in a local pub. The woman has been arrested for aggravated assault.
