Midsummer weather 'unpredictable'
Weather forecasts indicate changeable conditions over the Midsummer holiday weekend.
Picnicking Swedes will have to be prepared to dash inside at short notice as sunny periods are replaced by rain showers and even the odd rumble of thunder.
SMHI, the Swedish meteorological agency, writes on its web page that the Midsummer weekend weather is dependent on a front of low pressure that is making weather conditions unpredictable.
Rain is expected across the country with the heaviest falls in central Norrland. The rain will move northwards by the end of Saturday and reach northern Norrland by Sunday.
Further rainy weather, originating in the British Isles, will meet the west coast of Sweden in the early hours of Sunday and push on through the province of Svealand and Stockholm later in the evening.
Few places in Sweden will see temperatures in excess of 20 degrees during the weekend and temperatures in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö reaching a maximum of 17, 16 and 14 degrees respectively.
