Opposition pulls away in new opinion poll

The opposition parties have increased their lead over the governing Alliance, a new opinion poll from Skop shows.

The opposition trio of the Social Democrats, Green Party and Left Party now have a 6.1 percent lead over the Alliance government, an increase of 1.7 percentage points from the previous poll in January.

The opposition had the support of 51.2 percent of voters polled while the Alliance parties claimed 45.1 percent.

The Social Democrats remain the largest party, unchanged at 38.8 percent. Fredrik Reinfeldt's Moderate Party increased by 0.5 points to 24.8 percent.

The Liberal Party (Folkpartiet) climbed 1.3 points to 8.3 percent, the Green Party was up 0.5 points to 6.8 percent while the Centre Party dropped 0.8 points to 6.7 percent.

The Left Party polled 5.6 percent, up 1.2 points since January and the Christian Democrats became the parliamentary party with the lowest level of support, polling 5.3 percent, down 0.4 points.

The Sweden Democrats dropped 0.3 points to 2.9 percent.

None of the changes are statistically significant.

The study is based on interviews with 1,100 people between the ages of 18 and 84, conducted from April 15th to May 14th.
