A 44-year-old man is to face trial next week on charges of selling his mentally disabled young wife as a sex slave on at least 100 occasions.

The suspect met the 19-year-old woman on the internet before the couple got married in a church north of Stockholm last summer.

But it was not long before the 44-year-old began using a site on the internet to sell the sexual services of his wife.

"She was completely in his command and did whatever he told her," prosecutor Robert Näppi told Metro.

The woman was ordered to have sex with dozens of men at a hotel in central Stockholm and a series of apartments in Gothenburg.

The 44-year-old's alleged pimping offences were only discovered however when police began investigating him for making threats in the spring of 2006 and found child pornography on his computer.

After an extensive two year investigation the man has now been indicted on a string of charges that range from trafficking, aggravate procuring, aggravated child pornography offences and child rape to threats, assault and fraud.

He is also accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl.

Police also found the email addresses of a number of suspected paedophiles in the computer of one of the man's accomplices. The discovery led to an extensive child pornography raid earlier this week.

Two men, 35 and 37, suspected of assisting the 44-year-old are also being held on charges of aggravated procuring.

The trial of the three men is scheduled to begin at Attunda District Court on Wednesday.
