Schenström: 'I feel as old as Gandalf'
Fredrik Reinfeldt's former closest aid Ulrika Schenström has spoken to the media for the first time since her resignation in the wake of an alcohol-fuelled evening with a TV reporter.
In an interview with magazine Resumé, Schenström said she regretted her actions on the night in question.
"I had been working too much. Unfortunately it's in such situations that lapses of judgment arise," she said.
Schenström, 35, was forced to resign on November 1st last year after she was found to have consumed a large quantity of alcohol in the company of TV4 reporter Anders Pihlblad on an evening when she was on call for the government's crisis management organization.
Schenström refused to speak in any detail about her resignation or the fact that she has turned down a request from the parliament's Constitutional Committee to answer questions about the government's capacity for crisis management on the night she was spotted embracing a television reporter.
She told Resumé that she feels she has been the victim of a "media campaign", which has changed her and made her more circumspect.
"It also feels like I've grown so much older. At least a thousand years older. I tend to say that I feel like Gandalf in Lord of the Rings," she said.
