Police operator fails to report murder call

A civilian working as an emergency operator at the police’s central communication center for Stockholm county (LKC) chose not to send out a police patrol immediately after a woman called in to say three shots had been fired in her neighbour’s yard.

Police ended up arriving at the murder scene two days later.

Now chief public prosecutor Christer Ekelund has filed a suit against the operator, according to the newspaper Metro.

The operator is suspected of breach of duty in the incident, which occurred last autumn.

Deputy head of LKC Mats Näslund said that the person accused continues to work as an operator.

“I can’t speculate as to what might happens now that there is a pending legal action,” said Näslund.
