German police stop man in runaway wheelchair
German police intervened Wednesday after an 89-year-old man accidentally steered his electric wheelchair onto a four-lane highway.
The man kept going after missing an exit on his way to a public garden near the northern German city of Hanover, according to police.
A 50-year-old driver noticed the man riding his wheelchair along the highway shoulder, called police and stayed behind the wheelchair until they arrived.
Police returned the 89-year-old home unharmed.
