Increasing numbers of Swedes anticipate a rise in housing prices in the near future, according to SEB bank's house price indicator.

In a survey of 1,000 people, 42 percent of households said they expected prices to go up over the coming year, compared to 38 percent a month earlier.

The proportion of households expecting a dip in prices fell from 30 to 24 percent.

"A labour market that remains strong, an upturn on the stock exchange in recent months, and lower property tax in growth areas have all presumably combined to give people a more positive view of the housing market," said SEB economist Gunilla Nyström in a statement.

SEB's house price indicator is based on a survey carried out by pollster Demoskop in the period March 26th to April 2nd.
