Woman indicted in Santa Claus stabbing case
A 19-year-old woman from Ulricehamn in western Sweden has been indicted on a charge of attempted manslaughter after stabbing her boyfriend in the head, Borås Tidning reports.
The couple had been together for two weeks when the man invited his new girlfriend, who had just been evicted from her apartment, to move in with him.
But when they drove to her place to pick up some of her personal effects, two of the woman's male friends held him against his will and forced him to join them on a stealing spree in Ulricehamn, the man told Borås District Court.
On the morning of February 25th, the man said he went down to the woman's cellar to retrieve some items of his that had been stolen by the woman's friends.
While in the cellar he found a Santa Claus suit and mask, which he put on before returning upstairs. But his girlfriend was not amused by the outfit. Instead she said she was frightened when she awoke from her slumber. She asked her boyfriend to leave the apartment.
When he refused to leave, they got into an argument. Spotting one of her friends outside the window, the woman called for help. Moments later the two men began throwing items of furniture at each other before the woman's friend used the window to exit the room.
All three people involved in the fracas were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
Alone with her boyfriend again, the woman grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the temple. In the resulting scuffle, the 19-year-old woman was stabbed in the thigh.
With blood streaming from his head, the man left the house and received help from a woman who was passing with her young child.
The 19-year-old has admitted to stabbing her boyfriend but said that she was acting in self-defence.
