Source offers list of 30,000 German tax evaders
As an ongoing tax evasion scandal unfolds in Germany, an unidentified person has offered data for 30,000 Swiss bank accounts to the state tax authorities in Baden-Württemberg.
In the Wednesday edition of German daily Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Finance Minister Gerhard Stratthaus confirmed the offer.
“But we don’t know yet whether it’s serious,” Stratthaus told the paper.
According to the paper, the person has indicated that the information contains evidence of tax evasion from people all over Germany. The Baden-Württemberg authorities are trying to determine who is responsible for the case, the paper wrote.
