Just before a bomb detonated under a car in central Stockholm on Sunday, a car belonging to the same security guard firm was set on fire in Gothenburg.

However, police in Västra Götaland don’t see any connection between the two incidents.

No one was hurt in the Sunday morning bomb explosion that shattered windows in buildings along Surbrunnsgatan in central Stockholm.

A 29-year-old man was arrested later in the day and is behind held on charges of devastation endangering the public and making grave, unlawful threats.

The car belonged to Bevakningskompaniet, which supplies security guards to Stureplansgruppen, a company that operates several nightclubs in central Stockholm.

Bevakningskompaniet also supplies guards to Push, a trendy new club on Avenyn in Gothenburg, the city’s main thoroughfare and center of its commercial and night life.

Push is also owned by Stureplansgruppen.

A guard working at the Gothenburg club had his car set on fire and the windows broken around 5 o’clock Sunday morning, according to the Göteborgs-Posten newspaper.

“The owner of the car was working as a security guard at the time. There wasn’t any threat directed at him personally,” Kent Bertilsson of the Gothenburg city police told the paper.

Police in Västra Götaland don’t currently see any connection between the incidents in Gothenburg and Stockholm.

“If they are related, we don’t know about it,” said Stefan Gustavsson, spokesperson for the Västra Götaland police.

The car fire in Gothenburg has been classified as vandalism.

“Someone has intentionally lit this care on fire,” said Gustavsson.
