Carola, who sang together with Melodifestival veteran Andrea Johnson, said to SVT after the loss:

"There are mixed feelings. We have been successful before and we did all we could. At the same time we are of course disappointed."

Häggkvist and Johnson were knocked out already in the quarter-finals of this head-to-head second chance heat in Kiruna in the far north of Sweden.

Nordman knocked out the favourites with their witch-burning epic "I lågornas sken" (In the fire's flame). They went on to defeat Suzie Tapper's ballad "Visst finns mirakel" (literally - Of course there are miracles).

Nordman's Mats Wester expressed surprise at their shock qualification for the final in Globen.

"This is unbelievable really. Carola and Andreas are real Eurovision artists. I would never have predicted this," Wester said to SVT.

Sibel's grand ballad "That is where I'll go" beat off the challenge of of E-Type & The Poodles hard-rock hit "Line of fire."

Sibel then met teen favourite Ola in the second round. Sibel took the first spot in the final and was also surprised at her success.

"Fantastic. I never expected this. My goal was only to get to Karlskrona and do as well as I could. And now I am going to Globen," said Sibel to SVT backstage after her win.

The complete line up for the final in Globen on March 15th is now: Amy Diamond, Christer Sjögren, Sanna Nielsen, Rongedal, Frida featuring Headline, BWO, Linda Bengtzing, Charlotte Perelli, Sibel and Nordman.
