She topped the list of over 125 influential businesswomen compiled annually by business magazine Veckans Affär.

A surprised and flattered Biström received the award from Crown Princess Victoria at a Tuesday night gala held at Stockholm City Hall.

According to the citation explaining why she won the award, Biström “shines the brightest of all in the Swedish energy market.”

“I think that one reason that explains why I’m on this list is that the energy industry has become extremely hot. We’re currently dealing with important questions that are related to the environmental. And in the energy industry I’ve been in a position to make a difference,” she said to news agency TT.

Number two on the list is SEB head Annika Falkengren. Mia Brunell, CEO for Kimmevik, came in third.

Biström’s advice to those who want to become influential is to choose the right company and the right boss.

“And be yourself, be secure in who you are as a person so you can direct all your energy to pushing your issues forward instead of worrying about how you’re perceived,” she said.
