On January 2nd the 36-year-old reported his wife missing from their home in Uppsala. He claimed that he had found her car parked near the central station in Uppsala.

The man was initially suspected of having abducted his wife and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The man turned himself in to Uppsala police on Wednesday.

By Friday police suspected that the man had been involved in the murder of his wife and the 36-year-old was remanded in custody on Saturday morning on suspicion of murder with an alternative charge of abduction.

"He denies the offences," reports prosecutor Anne Sjöblom.

A 22-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of sheltering a criminal and police suspect him of aiding and abetting in the moving of the 26-year-old woman's body.

The 36-year-old and the woman have an eleven-month-old daughter together.
